Well, the notes on the screenplay came in this week. And I’m happy to say that they’re minimal, and easily dealt with. (And no-one’s said a thing about the swearing, the violence or the now-infamous Goat-Fucking Scene.)
In real terms, this means that we’ll have a locked script in five weeks or so. And that’s the point at which we commence the visual development in earnest. We all said from the beginning that everything has to emanate from the script, and our original conception of a videogame-derived film that was 1) a film for adults and 2) a good film first and a videogame-movie second.
Also, a film where bastards explode when they get whipped, people get set on fire, and Alucard has no clothes on. Because girls and gay men need fan service too.
Anyway, I’ll be back next month after we’ve got the script locked, and I guess we’ll get into the subject of visual development from there. Happy new year, and I’ll see you on the other side.

Nice to see some fan service getting in there. People exploding when whipped sounds friggen awesome, and makes perfect sense in the context of the game world. I hope it translates well to flim though. Kind of annoying when people just say “why do things explode when you hit them?” and the other person replies “it’s magic.” as if that explained everything.
Just out of curiosity, will there be candles involved in the script? I remember reading not long ago that Iga (love him or hate him) said that the candles were the souls of Dracula’s victims, and they drop items as thanks for being freed. Will anything like that be in the script?

Well, I applaud that this is going to be a more mature-oriented film (especially after those god-awful kiddy style DS ‘vanias), but…is throwing in goat fucking and a nekked Al really the best way to say that this is an adult CV?
I was hoping this would appeal to the fans’ nostalgia more than making it obvious that this is trying too hard to be ‘adult’.
All in all, I’m still looking foward to it.

Well, I’m sorry, but I have no nostalgia for CV at all, and nostalgia in general disgusts me. I have an interest in CV, which led me to write an adult-oriented film based on (one part of) it. There’s no “trying too hard.” I’m an adult writer, and this is the kind of work I write, and that’s why I was hired.
One or two of you need to grow a sense of humour, too.

hehhe tell it to them Warren.. if theres one thing castle vania needs its goat fucking. Makes the humans seem worthless and pathetic as their sexual desire has flaws occasionally like beastuality. Something vampires will never do (or will they?) I think it adds to the film. and I think Warren is a joker,,, so somethings he is perhaps not telling us the truth or over exaggeration of the truth. I wouldnt take what he said to seriously. But if indeed the goat fucking is in I think it adds to the films depth, story, humor and adult orientations. Definitely must be in

For the record, I thought that goat scene was hilarious. It wasn’t made into a big deal, it was done to build depth to the story surrounding Trevor. As long as we don’t hear references to it for the rest of the trilogy, I’m fine.
But Alucard naked? Come on! The man can turn into different forms, throw Hellfire, and even teleport. Dracula raised him better than to just flashing his dick all over Europe.

As much as a naked Alucard sounds…’interesting’, that isn’t what I want to see. I want to see it live up to the name Castlevania and actually make a cool story out of Castlevania III. I don’t want to see all this ‘extra’ content. Honestly, just making Alucard have a more importaint role and more screen time would be enough to please fangirls/fanboys. Nudity isn’t the anwser. Violence and fire is good for the movie, but there’s no need for sex or nudity.

all Goat fucking put aside, I think it will be interesting. one thing I do hope for is that Alucard, Sypha and Grant get close to equal screentime. I love Alucard, and I realize he has more personal reasons for going to Castlevania with Trevor to confront Dracula, but still, Grant and Sypha were interesting characters too, and I hope they get ample screentime. (although if Trevor and ALucard dominate most of the screentime I still wouldn’t complain…seeing the characters animated and talking should be friggin awesome in and of itself. one thing I hope though, is that Trevor has a Spiked chain/ Flail style whip rather than the Leather Whip…but that is just me.
