The Silence Of The Goats

November 2nd, 2007 · 21 Comments

Nothing new to report. I’m actually still waiting on a complete set of notes on the script from all concerned — I look at notes both from the producers both inside and outside the CASTLEVANIA production entity itself.

The “notes” phase is an entire production step in itself. I look at everything the various players at this point have to say, and address each of them in one of two ways. Either I agree with the change, and add it to the script. Or I disagree with the change and want to stab the person who suggested it with broken bottles until they die. Since I’m in England and they’re in America, that gets difficult, and the bad exchange rate makes it harder, these days, to hire people in America who could do it for me. So I have to argue the point and explain in a coherent fashion why their note is bad for the script. And then they will tell me that I’m drunk and they don’t recognise the language I wrote my argument in and could I please stop sending the weird little drawings of them being raped by hoboes?

So…yeah. A whole phase in and of itself.

More soon.

haha. Raped by hobos. Did you really draw pictures of that?

Is the note phase electronic or paper? I would imagine that passing stuff through email would incur some unique security/protection issues.

Raaah, we want to see more artworks …
… even if it’s raped illustrations from Warren !! ^^

Now see, I would think that the exchange rate would make it easier to hire someone in America to do the work for you, unless the pound is sagging and I didn’t know about it.

But hey, I’m in Canada, I wouldn’t mind the trip down south; it’d be sort of a working vacation for me. And our dollar is good, so…

    Warren,

If they send the script back and there’s a couple of changes that you agree to make on it, would the current writers strike keep the project from continuing? Are you part of the Screen Writers Guild?

Thanks for the news update Warren. We were getting worried. :)

I’m not Writers Guild of America, animation is largely not covered by WGA (which is, of course, one of their issues), and the production company isn’t a WGA-signatory company and is therefore not a struck entity. I can continue to perform services on CASTLEVANIA without scabbing.

    Very cool.

    Thank you Warren.

When I saw the title of this post, I totally thought of the town theme from Castlevania II (Silence of the Daylight) before the obvious movie title.

This movie was made for me.

Guy, you were not the only one who did such a thing. (:

I’m going to have to listen to some Bloody Tears now. Thanks a lot guys.

I hope everything clears up soon. I’d hate the one good gaming movie project I know of to go under because of strikes and union trouble.

Silent on the front as well I see.

Do make sure you don’t cave on anything, Warren. In my opinion, the screenwriter knows best (except when he’s not, you know? ’tis tricky…).

Just don’t cave on any of the crazy shit. ‘kay?
    I like the crazy shit.

“Now see, I would think that the exchange rate would make it easier to hire someone in America to do the work for you….”

    Agreed.

As a sidenote, I want to say that this is AWESOME. I absolutely LOVED Transmet, and the Castlevania games are some of my favorite. However, I couldn’t see a live action Castlevania movie (like Anderson and company are making.. yuck). The fact that -you- are making an -animated- version of -Castlevania 3 for the NES- is beyond exciting. I can’t wait.

At least I am relieved to hear that WGA doesn’t affect Warren’s own work schedule. Hopefully differences finally get settled here in America and everyone joins forces again to continue a smooth production on this project.

What is a man? a miserable little pile of secrets… in this case keeping the screen play a secret…. im sure that it wont hurt giving us a slight insight :)

I hope you work turns out good in Castlevania, Castlevania 3 is one of the best games of the series IMO; so is a great choice for a movie.I’ve read your work in Ultimate Nightmare and liked it a lot so I have my hopes that you’ll make a fine CV movie. Now I wonder what the animation style would be like?Anyway good luck with the burocrats!
