It’s a shame I missed that convention. I wish I could have gone and met you people. Summer is passing by pretty quickly, I hope that we can all finish our projects before the end, The Castlevania project is no small one. So cheers everyone. I really need to work on my writing too, instead of making the typical cheesy cliche stories I do. Writing is the backbone of all creative work.
Genya Arikado // Jul 12, 2007 at 6:35 pm
warren, ¿when will you will understand? you cant make an anime of castlevania without grant!!! a lot of the new and old school , all want grant, im surprised that IGA approved to exclude him.
Jerkofwonder // Jul 12, 2007 at 9:26 pm
First, it’s not an anime. Second Grant is just not in the first one. It’s a trilogy.
Genya Arikado // Jul 13, 2007 at 1:14 pm
First: Anime, movie… you all know what i mean…
Second: check “cutting the pirate” http://castlevaniadraculascurse.com/2007/05/02/cutting-the-pirate
Third: this is a trilogy, Warren never said that grant is going to be there, he only said…”I’ts PROBABLY use the alternate spelling of Grant DiNesti.” Probably = 75% Yes, 25% No.
Genya Arikado // Jul 13, 2007 at 1:16 pm
Edit:
Probably: 25% Yes, Grant enter in the History - 75% No ,Grant no enter and cry old school gamers.

I agree its sad to cut out Grant, especially over a stupid thing like his name. But I’m with Warren on the part about leaving room to breathe. Its a noble sacrifice. As far as a landlocked pirate, dude, haven’t you noticed all of the lame pirate wannabes running around.
Ryan // Jul 13, 2007 at 5:39 pm
Jumping to conclusions, much? And while you’re talking as though you have definite proof that you know what’s going to happen in the film, why don’t you cite this, too:
“Grant is not in the FIRST MOVIE. From Warren’s earlier post Cutting The Pirate, here it is again -
WHEN HE DOES TURN UP, I’ll probably use the alternate spelling of Grant DiNesti.”
Uh, that seems to say more than anything else that he WILL be in the movie. ‘Probably’ doesn’t signify his existence in the movie– it’s just marking a tossup on how his name will be spelled. The word implies nothing about his being in the movie or not. ‘When he does turn up…’ sounds pretty certain to me. Maybe you should have read the whole thing.
Yeesh.

Edit: ‘in the series’, not ‘in the movie’. Sorry.
Arikado // Jul 15, 2007 at 2:18 pm
Firstly: Wish I could meet Warren at San Diego but I live way to far awy.
Secondly: Genya Arikado (my similarly named friend) in case you haven’t heard everyone else … GRANT IS NOT IN THE FIRST MOVIE! HE WILL BE IN THE OTHER TWO. There I said it…
Thirdly: How does Warren have time to author a book and write Castlevania III. I am very impressed. Once again I am certain the movie is in good hands.
Fourthly: I was not sucking up in ‘Thirdly’
Otaku-Man // Jul 18, 2007 at 6:29 am
I just find it funny that’s it back to fussing about the old material again, seeing as how it’s been jibber-jabbed enough as it is.
and now…
1) Grant DeNasti
2) Soundwave
3) Chickens in Choppers
*opens envelope*
“Name three things or people not found in the first movie but will definitly be in the follow-up sequel.”

If grant is in the other films, i have to apologize, but because in the post was the link of cutting the pirate, i suposed that warren didnt wanted to put grant in the movies, again my apology.
But if grant isnt there, the wrath of the old school will fall upon warren
Otaku-Man // Jul 23, 2007 at 5:57 am
@Genya
And you’d be right. The fans would rip his head off.
Of course, making everyone happy is hard. Just look at the Transformers movie. Not EXACT like the original, but it has its fans and also appeals to many of the most die hard fans out there.
In this case, Warren is looking at Castlevania from a somewhat more realistic perspective. Sure there’s going to be ghouls ‘n ghosts, but from his point it’s like:
Vampire Hunter whose holy powers have been in hiding because of ye olde paranoia and witch hunting - that’d make for a great character.
Cleric who specializes in white magic who hopes to keep the fact she’s a woman in a male-dominated society a sescret - ooh that’d make for great story telling material.
Son of Dracula who has a difference of opinion with his father, siding with the human race even though they killed his mother - oh now that is priceless! Awesome stuff!
A pirate - wait, what?!
Kinda seems out of place there. For part one, Grant’s presence just wouldn’t mesh while trying to get Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard built up. Now granted, Grant was not EXACTLY a pirate in the original game (more like a villager that got on Drac’s bad side). So he’ll most likely show up somewhere during the journey, AFTER Part 1.
And that’s my prediction.
Of course, my predictions got me the Turd Cape of Shame last time. Hopefully, I won’t get it again.

Otaku-Man:
Perhaps Grant gets ship wrecked. Then finds Dracs castle and gets the idea to explore finding Trevor. Maybe Trevor finds him first and uses Grant as hired help.
DocumentN // Jul 23, 2007 at 6:59 pm
My question: Is there any chance of the last movie including the original game on the disc as an extra, ported to one or more modern systems? Probably it’s too soon to say, but are people at least thinking about some kind of rerelease?
DocumentN // Jul 23, 2007 at 7:00 pm
Also: Star Wars had R2-D2 and Cowboy Bebop had Radical Edward, so there.
Jerkofwonder // Jul 24, 2007 at 12:17 am
Freedom fighter out for revenge when his village was destroyed, and his friends and family were killed by Dracula… good character to me…
Pedro // Jul 24, 2007 at 11:00 am
It’s good to see this site still shows some glimpses of life every once in a while.
Now, let us go back to discussing the soundtr… wait, nevermind.
Malachi // Jul 24, 2007 at 4:37 pm
Will Hector make an appearance in this series? Perhaps as a minor villain.
Genya Arikado // Jul 25, 2007 at 12:41 pm
I dont think Hector and Isaac are going to appear because Trevor and his comrades was fighting… meanwhile Isaac was looking for Hector who betrayed Dracula and they never saw Hector or others.
Jerkofwonder // Jul 25, 2007 at 1:27 pm
Ya, but that was during the games climax. There aren’t making three movies about the actual fight at the end.
Malachi // Jul 25, 2007 at 9:49 pm
I merely think that it would be a good way to end the trilogy while introducing him at least somewhere. That way if (and hopefully when) they get that far in the series they are not trying (like Curse of Darkness did) to backfill a storyline for a character that no one has seen before. It would add continuity.
Arikado // Jul 26, 2007 at 1:37 pm
DocumentN:
The original game will probably not be included with the movie. If someone used the game with pc it may work. But what if they tried with their DVD player, ps2, xbox, and so forth. Our best chance of seeing the game rereleased is probably on the wii’s virtual console.
On Hector and Issac:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Hector and Issac will probably not appear. If they were to appear it would be a cameo appearance such as a portraitof them on a wall. The only chance they might have a small scene is if dracula is giving them orders. But it would only be one small half second.
Malachi:
I also think Warren and his gain making more Castlevania movies after the trilogy would be great.
Jerkofwonder // Jul 26, 2007 at 5:33 pm
Well, yeah… I don’t think anyone expects Hector or Isaac to have more than a small cameo, at least Isaac. It would be kind of odd if you didn’t see him at all.
Jerkofwonder // Jul 26, 2007 at 5:37 pm
I wonder if Warren got a look at the Castlevania action figures by NECA. As they are also being featured at the con.
Auturgist // Jul 27, 2007 at 6:31 pm
I recommend, before complaining about anything from this point forward, asking yourself these questions:
1) Have I seen the end product yet?
2) Has Warren commented unconditionally on the subject of my complaint?
3) Will the world end as we know it if things don’t quite turn out the way I want?
If you answered “No.” to any of these questions, you should probably reserve judgment until you have seen the movies or Warren comments definitively on a matter of concern for you. This way, you can save yourself from looking like an obnoxious fanboy for absolutely no good reason.
Arikado // Jul 28, 2007 at 9:10 am
Auturgist:
True, but this is a forum man! We’re supposed to be obnoxious fanboys booing Sonia and cheering the movies. We fight with and against eachother and drool over new info. And yes, the world would end if Trevor went blonde and grew a ponytail (don’t ask).
Malachi // Jul 28, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Thank you Arikado and be assured that I am not labouring under the missapprehension that either Hector or anyone else not in Dracula’s Curse itself should be given more than bit parts or those necissary for the translation into a movie from a game. I hope that there are plans for continuing the series beyond this trilogy because I would love to see some of the other games made into movies as well.
Malachi // Jul 28, 2007 at 10:21 pm
About Sonia; IMDb seems to be under the impression that Sylvain White and Paul Anderson are making a movie about that. First is Legends even cannon anymore and second Sylvain WHO? From “Stomp the Yard.” What is that? And Paul Anderson… I actually do not want this movie to come out. This is why I want Project 51 to continue with the franchise after this one. I believe that they, at least, will do a good job with my favorite video game series.
Arikado // Jul 31, 2007 at 4:27 pm
Malachi:
Let’s wait for the first movie before we crave more. Too many movies that should be good turn out to suck. Paul Anderson as we all know however, has a record of making bad movies so we can pre-judge him.
RPG! // Aug 1, 2007 at 6:01 pm
Thank you Mr. Ellis for signing my Iron Man “Extremis” book and tollerating my presence when we shared an elevator in the Omni. You made my first SDCC very memorable, sir.
Arikado // Aug 4, 2007 at 3:10 pm
Yeahhhh… Things are getting pretty slow again. Perhaps if Warren isnt to busy he could give us a new post now (please, please, please).
DocumentN // Aug 7, 2007 at 7:38 pm
Preferably a post along the lines of “I promise the movie will absolutely, positively be released no earlier than [date], and probably much later. You can safely go outside as long as you’re back before then.”
Frankly, I wish other nerd-media projects would do the same. Of course, one obvious reason not to would be fear of people going around spaming “ZOMG RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED” to every forum on the internet within three seconds of the post.
