KOJI IGARASHI

IGA

Many of you have mentioned legendary Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi in your comments. I am pleased to let you know that IGA is most definitely involved in the movie. He has been consulting with us and reviewing all of our creative materials since we began discussing and developing the project almost 2 years ago. More on his involvement and an update on the status of the production in a post later this week.

Great! Koji’s presence will be positive indeed!

I’m itching to see the update! We will finally will be able to see more artworks?

Please… PLEASE don’t let IGA ruin the character of Sypha Belnades. IGA has a bad habit of messing with female characters and killing off any potential of what they could be by making what should be major characters minor, killing them off, or making them terrible damsels in distress.

Sypha has been regarded as a “Samus Aran” of the Castlevania universe. Please, I beg you, don’t let IGA bring her down to a “Damsel in distress” level. She’s not a damsel in distress by any means.

    This is wonderful news! Thanks!

Excellent news! This quells any need or call for a fan advisory tribune, for the most part, and solidifies the project as one to acknowledge by all Castlevania fans.

Fearful Sypha Fan, be very well aware that Sypha is incontestably my favorite of all Castlevania heroines past and present, and among my top tier absolutely, but any distress toward Igarashi’s treatment or usage of her character is undue. The long tiring argument of IGA being sexist and persecutor of females throughout his tenure as producer of the series originates from his removal of the Symphony of the Night cash-in game (read: slightly changed data of 1991’s Belmont’s Revenge) Legends, which was a preposterously ridiculous and nonsensical affront to its namesake’s continuity and mythos. While I really like the idea of a female full blooded Belmont descendant in the future, it wasn’t that concept, but the overarching story and game itself that just didn’t work to begin with.

It’s also utterly untrue that IGA’s ever altered in any way, shape, or form any attribute or trait of any other female character from the series to reflect any traditional literary or theatrical stereotypes of women being defenseless or a subsidiary plot mechanism. He’s also never downplayed their part in the timeline and certainly not killed anyone off. For all other inquiries I would immediately bring to your attention Maria, Charlotte, Loretta and Stella, Sypha’s own descendant Yoko Belnades, and others - all courageous, independent, invaluable protagonists in and to Castlevania.

And so I apologize and wish and hope not to have started any disputes as there are so many here in the CV fan community, and await to hear further word on IGA’s participation. :)

    Yey :)

    Oh wow. Awesome!

I second the request to see more artworks, too!

Why was there talk about Anderson leaving this project over the “Blogosphere” yesterday? I tried finding it in recent posts on this site but didn’t.

  • Jen Zee // Mar 30, 2007 at 9:01 pm

    Thank goodness! :)

If IGA’s on the team, then this is going to be a PROMISING project.

Since he’s probably the biggest fan of all (seeing as how he makes the games), then I imagine that he’d know just about all that needs to be done to make sure the movie is awesome.

Still, a fan advisor or fan POLL, such as here on the production blogs (such as what should such and such be named?) could still be useful. Just in case there’s something that even IGA is not sure about. (Sure he may know all that is Castlevania, but even he can not read the minds of what Castlevania fans WANT. That’s where a poll could come in handy.)

I hope he advise Project 51 to contact some Japanese studio to do the actual animations. Madhouse would be perfect.

    O.M.F.G!!!

Please! Don’t let Koji “IGAcentric” ruin this project!!!
I hope that project will be perfect! But “IGAcentric” spoiled many things in the video-game series for many fans…

I’m loving your dedication and this blog!!!
    That’s all so fucking good!

This project is like a bless to me… after the future (and fucked) deception that i’m waiting with Paul Andersson’s movie … T_T

“May Dracula be with us…” (heheh)

I hope that the one responsible of writing the script listens to what the game developers have to say and the story is not like a poor attempt as Final Fantasy: the spirits within.

Hironobu Sakaguchi was involved with that project, but the world wasn’t like the game at all that was one of the flaws.

Therefore it should be considered that this is a film about the world of castlevania, not just another dracula movie.

And please no cheesy stuff like Van Hellsing, (aside the bad story, it also had out of place action music in quiet scenes) I wish I could go back in time to unwatch that movie.

Story is always more important than
    any special effects.

    Thanks for reading
