ARTISTS

January 24th, 2007 · 14 Comments

I received an email from an artist yesterday looking for work on the movie and asking if we have chosen an animation studio yet. We are in the early stages of production and have not chosen a studio and won’t be hiring the majority of our artists until later this year. However, we will be starting visual development for the movie in February and will be looking for a limited number of character and creatures designers, background designers, and background painters to establish the look and style of the movie. If you are a great artist, Castlevania is your favorite video game of all time, and you think you have what it takes to help make our movie great, then send a link to your online portfolio or send a digital copy of your portfolio to belmont@castlevaniadraculascurse.com. Even better, send us your portfolio and really impress us by including some specific Castlevania pieces. Positions are limited. The production is based in Southern California but you do not need to live here or move here for these positions.

Have you completed casting for your voice actors?

Haven’t even started. We’ll get to that in a future post but feel free to post suggestions.

It would be interesting if you could have familiar voices to the gamers for the film.

Crispin Freeman made an outstanding performance in his previous roles in the Castlevania Games. He will fit perfectly as one of the three protagonists (Alucard, Trevor or Dracula)

For Dracula, I might dare to suggest the same Voice actor that starred in “Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness”

I can’t Imagine Dracula with another voice now. I don’t know his name, but he also starred in “Samurai Warriors” as Nobunaga Oda.

Robert Belgrade returning as Alucard would also be very interesting.

Fan service is important, you know, and those actors are very competent.

This is all very exciting. I’m a writer of the freelancing breed, but I’ve been big into Castlevania since I was a puppy. I know you’re probably not looking for writing staff at this point, but if you ever want to see me explode with joy, I am here.

I think Madhouse studio would be perfect to realize Castlevania’s animation! Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust was an awesome vampirehunter anime, I hope you’re aiming for the same level of excellence!

When is the deadline for sending in your portfolio? I am very interested in this, but I don’t want to spend hours making a portfolio of Castlevania drawings just to find out all of the artists have been hired already.

Gainax and Studio BONES are both pretty nice studios. But they’re Japanese and probably already busy with projects.

    How about the characters design?

The classic Dracula outfit portrayed in the top page artwork seems a bit “inaproppiate” if you’re gonna give the movie a dark relatively adult style…

Have you considered a design more inspired in the Dracula from the japanese artist Ayami Kojima?

Or even in the human appearance of Dracula as portrayed in Coppola’s film?

I really like the designs of the monsters, Trevor, Grant and Sypha made my James Jean…

How about the script? Do you also accept suggestions?

I’ve got a big interest in the monsters and bosses that will be used in the film. Will they be the same ones that appeared in the original game?

    Skull Knight
    Mummy Man
Pazuzu (Also known as Leviathan Gargoyle)

    ???

Not to mention the monsters. While they may not be referred to directly, some of them have awkward Japanese to English translations (Such as “Shimon”, the whip-toting skeleton whose name can be translated as “Gates of Death” or “Simon”).

And lastly, the characters: I know we can expect Trevor Belmont, Grant DaNasty (hopefully he’ll first appear as “Nasty Grant”), Sypha Belnades, and Alucard. Not to mention big bads Dracula and Death, but what about characters that were said to be part of the adventure in “Curse of Darkness”: Isaac and Hector?

Can we expect Isaac and Hector to be in this film too?

Inquizitive minds need to know! :)

Well, i truly hope this movie is gonna get tight.
But as a gamer i am more a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night fan, and therefore i’m hoping that a movie of that game will appear.

Maybe an idea for a next movie ;)

Best of luck and ill look forward on seeing this film, Castlevania fan that i am..

PS: Lucky enough Uwe Boll has nothing to do with this one ;)
